Lorgat secures new CSA contract

Cape Town - Cricket South Africa (CSA) have confirmed the extension of the contract of CSA Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat to 31 July, 2019.

The extension was announced by CSA President Chris Nenzani at the conclusion of Friday’s CSA Board meeting held in Johannesburg. The Board noted the "exceptional progress made by CSA since Mr. Lorgat’s appointment in 2013", a CSA press release said.

"Haroon has more than delivered on our expectations and even though his first term will only end in twelve months time, the Board had no hesitation to confirm the services of Lorgat for a second three-year term," Nenzani said.

"He took over at a time of great uncertainty and under very difficult circumstances, but his experience and astute leadership has stabilized our cricket and set us on the path of achieving our goal to be the best run sports federation on the continent.

"It’s pleasing to hear the excellent feedback we get from all our stakeholders, especially our members, commercial and broadcast partners. The culture in our environment has turned into a very positive one and we are poised to grow even stronger.

"I must also commend Haroon and his team for taking on one of the biggest projects this organization has ever seen, by establishing a new Operating Model which will become the cornerstone for CSA and all its members and franchises to run their respective operations in a sustainable manner."

Lorgat was appreciative of the confidence of the Board.

"I am proud to serve my country and I am also very grateful to the CSA Board who have shown confidence in my ability to turn things around and lead CSA," he said.

"I am also very appreciative of the support received from the management and staff who have believed in me and run with the goals we have set over the past two years."
