Cape Town - Jacques Kallis and Hashim Amla have both been nominated in three categories including the prestigious SA Cricketer of the Year to be announced at the 2011 South African Cricket Awards Gala Dinner on Tuesday, 7 June, at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Johannesburg.
VOTE FOR THE FAN'S CRICKETER OF THE YEAR
The SA Cricket Awards Gala Dinner is the culmination of CSA Day, a day set aside annually by CSA, to celebrate the achievements of leading players and administrators for their achievements in amateur cricket, domestic professional cricket and operations, and the ultimate level of SA Team awards.
Kallis has been nominated in the categories of SA Cricketer of the Year, Castle Test Cricketer of the Year and KFC So Good Award. He is the only nomination in this latter category for his two epic centuries in the Castle Test match against India at Sahara Park Newlands in January.
Amla has been nominated as SA Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year and Standard Bank One-Day International Cricketer of the Year.
Imran Tahir has also received three nominations including the SA Newcomer of the Year. His other two nominations are in the Professional Awards: Domestic section for SuperSport Series Cricketer of the Year and MTN40 Cricketer of the Year.
Last year Amla swept the boards, winning no fewer than five of the awards available to members of the SA Team, including SA Cricketer of the Year.
Kallis is a previous SA Cricketer of the Year in 2004.
Fans have the opportunity to get involved in the Awards once again this year. They are being tasked with selecting the CSA Fans’ Cricketer of the Year.
Online voting started earlier this month and fans from across the country have contributed to their favourite player’s chance of winning by voting on www.cricket.co.za.
Two lucky fans who take part in the hunt for the CSA Fans’ Cricketer of the Year will be selected by random draw to enjoy a VIP experience at South African cricket’s most memorable night of the calendar, the SA Cricket Awards gala dinner, which is the grand finale of CSA Day.
