Graeme Smith says 'I do'

Cape Town - Proteas' Test skipper Graeme Smith tied the knot with wife Morgan Deane in Cape Town on Saturday.

The couple were married at St Bernard's church in Cape Town, with the reception scheduled for Suikerbossie restaurant in Hout Bay.

The couple, who married just six months after first meeting, opted for a black-tie cocktail event for their guests, which included Morgan's family and friends who flew over from Ireland to attend.

"Graeme and Morgan wanted a very intimate wedding attended by only close friends and family," Smith's personal assistant, Fiona de Sousa, confirmed.

Morgan tweeted on Friday, "From tomorrow.... Morgan Smith ?" before adding earlier today, "Today I'm getting married to the man of my dreams ?"

Smith, 30, and Deane, 26, began their whirlwind romance last February, when the Irish beauty flew to India to support Smith and the Proteas in the Cricket World Cup.

He returned the favour, visiting Ireland in early April, where he asked her father for her hand in marriage, before popping the question during a holiday in Cork.

Smith caused controversy when he elected to fly from India to Ireland instead of coming home to South Africa to face the media, given the team's dismal performance at the World Cup.

After Smith popped the question, a delighted Morgan tweeted: "I've just gotten engaged to the most incredible man I've ever met. Graeme I love you.. I'm the luckiest girl in the world."
