AB extends PUMA contract

Cape Town - PUMA has announced a contract extension with AB de Villiers, the newly appointed captain of the Proteas ODI and T20 teams.

De Villiers says, “I have had a long and successful relationship with PUMA over the years, and am very happy to be continuing my association with them. PUMA’s product has always been of a very high quality, and I am looking forward to trying their new products out, and extending my affiliation with the brand.”

The agreement will run beyond 2015 and includes the sponsorship of cricket footwear and lifestyle product off the pitch. To match his top form, De Villiers will sport PUMA’s new Evo Speed boot from mid-2012.

“PUMA is delighted to have continued our association with AB,” said PUMA South Africa’s Marketing Director Brett Bellinger. “AB has been a fantastic PUMA ambassador over the past years and we value what he brings to the PUMA brand by way of performance as well as lifestyle appeal. PUMA will continue to supply AB with his cricketing boots as well as all lifestyle footwear, apparel and accessories.”

De Villiers’s relationship with PUMA began in 2006 when he signed his first contract with the sportslifestyle brand. He re-signed in 2009 and has now extended his contract for the second time.

“We wish AB continued good form and ongoing success in his captaincy of the ODI and T20 national teams,” added Bellinger.
