Proteas grace Moses Mabhida

Durban - The Board of Cricket South Africa (CSA) has accepted an offer from the eThekwini Metro to host a once-off International Twenty20 match at the iconic 70 000-seater Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, which will staging 2010 Soccer World Cup matches.

This was announced on Friday following a meeting of the CSA Board which stated that the Standard Bank Proteas limited overs team and India will play for the Krish Mackerdhuj Trophy on January 9, 2011, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Indians in South Africa.

It was decided to name the trophy after the late Krish Mackerdhuj, a past president of CSA and a pioneer of South Africa's first cricket tour of India in 1991.

Gerald Majola, CSA CEO, said: "This match will be CSA's way of acknowledging the meaningful contribution to the progress of South Africa made by the Indian community, and also to India for its support of cricket here since unity.

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India have kindly agreed to the match, and we are awaiting final approval from the ICC.”
