Warriors win toss, bat first

The Chevrolet Warriors won the toss and will bat first in the first leg of their Standard Bank Pro20 semifinal against the Gestetner Diamond Eagles at Outsurance Oval in Bloemfontein on Wednesday.

Live scorecard

The Warriors batsmen will be ready to charge on a flat pitch that should be good for batting. The visitors have been slightly hampered by Zander de Bruyn being struck by a team-mate in the nets on Tuesday and breaking a finger. The experienced Arno Jacobs comes in in his place.

For the Eagles, it is pretty much do or die as the second and third leg, if necessary, will be played in Port Elizabeth.

The Eagles have entrusted the same starting XI that lost by 18 runs to the Warriors last weekend for the semi-final first leg.

Teams

Gestetner Diamond Eagles - Adrian McLaren, Morne van Wyk, Dean Elgar, Boeta Dippenaar, Ryan Bailey, Reeza Hendricks, Ryan McLaren, Dillon du Preez, CJ de Villiers, Shadley van Schalkwyk, Thandi Tshabalala.

Chevrolet Warriors - Robin Peterson, Justin Kreusch, Colin Ingram, Davey Jacobs, Arno Jacobs, Ashwell Prince, Craig Thyssen, Johan Botha, Wayne Parnell, Juan Theron, Lonwabo Tsotsobe.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
