Potchefstroom - The Standard Bank Pro 20 match between the Highveld Lions and the Cobras ended in an exciting tie at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Wednesday night.
The more than 5 000 spectators were kept enthralled until the very last ball was bowled. The Lions won the toss and sent the Cobras in to bat. Proteas hero JP Duminy entertained the crowd with a splendid 56 off 44 balls, but some accurate bowling by Andre Nel, who conceded just 16 runs in his four overs, helped restrict the Cobras to 154.
The Lions appeared to be on course for victory, with Alviro Petersen scoring 56 from 44 deliveries and with good contributions by Neil McKenzie (33 ) and Levi (32) but then Charlie Langeveldt struck.
With two balls to go the scores were level (154). Langeveldt had Werner Coetsee caught behind with the penultimate balls; and it was left to Cliffie Deacon to score the winning run from the last ball. He was clean bowled by Langeveldt and the Lions finished on 154/6, the same score as the Cobras.
