Cobras, Dolphins set for semi

Cape Town. – The Cape Cobras take on the Dolphins at Newlands on Friday in the first game of their semi-final in the Pro20-series.

The Dolphins on Sunday comfortably beat the Lions by eight wickets in Durban to secure second place on the log.

The other teams that advanced to the semi-finals are the Warriors and Eagles. They meet on Wednesday in the first semifinal.

The second game of the semi-final between the Capetonians and Dolphins will be played in Durban on Sunday. Should the teams be level at one victory apiece, a third game will be played next Wednesday (18 February) in Durban.

On Sunday, the Dolphins limited the Lions to 112/8 with wicketkeeper Dane Vilas (55* of 51 balls, 2x4, 2x6) the only batsmen to have performed well. Yusuf Abdullah (3/28) was the top bowler.

The Dolphins (117/2) scored the winning runs with six balls remaining.

The Warriors beat the Eagles by 18 runs in Bloemfontein in a preview of Wednesday’s semifinal.

The Eastern Cape side posted 149/5 with Ashwell Prince (46) and Craig Thyssen (41*) the star performers. The Eagles could only muster 131/7 in reply.
