Prince back at Lancashire

London - South African batsman Ashwell Prince has signed for Lancashire for the fourth time, the second-tier English county club announced on Thursday.

The left-hander, 35, has agreed a two-year contract, subject to successful visa and registration applications, and will be available to play in all three forms of the game this season.

"I'm delighted to announce that I will be returning to Lancashire for the next two seasons," said Prince, who last played for his country in December 2011.

"Whilst I had been approached by teams in Division One, I feel that I was part of the team that went down last season and I want to be part of the team that is going to fight our way back to where we belong. I look forward to seeing all at the club soon."

Prince first joined Lancashire in 2009 as cover for Indian batsman VVS Laxman and averaged 62 in his five first-class appearances.

He returned to the county at the start of the following season and subsequently spent an entire season with them in 2012, hitting over 1 000 runs at an average of just under 44.

"I am delighted that Ashwell is to continue his association with us," said Lancashire cricket director Mike Watkinson.

"He has had an outstanding international career and has a lot to offer our squad both on and off the field."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
