Pakistan asked to bat

Dhaka - Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi won the toss and put Pakistan in to bat in the third match in the Asia Cup in Dhaka on Thursday.

Title holders Pakistan brought in all-rounder Anwar Ali in place of Bilawal Bhatti as the only change from the side which lost the opening match against Sri Lanka by 12 runs on Tuesday.

This is the first time Afghanistan have played in the competition. They lost the only one-day international they played against Pakistan, in Sharjah in February 2012.

Five-time Asian champions India beat Bangladesh by six wickets in the second match on Wednesday.

Pakistan: Misbah-ul Haq (captain), Ahmed Shehzad, Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Saeed Ajmal, Junaid Khan, Umar Gul, Anwar Ali.

Afghanistan: Mohammad Nabi(captain), Mohammad Shehzad, Nawroz Mangal, Asghar Stanikzai, Merwais Ashraf, Samiullah Shinwari, Dawlat Zadran, Shahpur Zadran, Amir Hamza, Najibullah Zadran, Noor Zardan.

Umpires: Billy Bowden (NZL) and Johan Cloete (RSA)

TV umpire: Nadal Hal (IND)

Match referee: Chris Broad (ENG)
