Bloemfontein - The Titans have set up an intriguing finale to the One-Day Cup play-off race as they kept their hopes of advancing alive with a three-wicket victory over the Knights in Bloemfontein on Wednesday.

Although the Titans were unable to secure a bonus point, they cruised to a rain-adjusted target of 271 with six overs to spare and took their points tally to 19 with one game to play.

They must now travel to East London and beat the high-flying Chevrolet Warriors on Friday, and hope that the Cape Cobras beat the Dolphins on what will be a thrilling last day of the round robin stage.

Defeat by such a comfortable margin was another dispiriting blow for the Knights after they had finally managed to put a decent total on the board.

The top four batsmen all contributed after the hosts won the toss and elected to bat, with Rilee Rossouw top-scoring with a breezy 87 from 76 deliveries in a score of 279 for seven.

However, that soon looked inadequate as the Titans raced to 126 without loss after 20 overs with Henry Davids and Heino Kuhn in full swing.

Rain briefly stopped play midway through the next over and reduced the target to 271 from 48 overs, but it had little effect on the Titans chase.

After Davids fell lbw to Diego Rosier for 73 in his final innings for the Titans before he joins up with the Proteas to cover for Graeme Smith, Kuhn continued to attack until he was eventually dismissed for 92 from 80 deliveries.

The outstanding start to the innings meant that the middle order were able to throw everything at the bowling in a bid to snatch a bonus point, but that assault instead brought three wickets in three overs and so the Titans were forced to settle for four well-earned points.
