Bloemfontein - The Knights endured the frustration of rain once again as their One Day Cup match against the Cape Cobras was abandoned without a ball being bowled here at Chevrolet Park on Sunday.
It was their second match in three games to be declared a no result and left the central franchise on the brink of elimination despite collecting two points for their troubles.
Rain had fallen for the entire Saturday in the city and it was still continuing steadily on Sunday morning, with more inclement weather forecast for the remainder of the day.
The result was also a blow to the Cape side, whose hopes of automatic qualification for the December 14 final also hang by a thread.
They remain second on the log with 24 points, and baring a dramatic slip up from the leading Highveld Lions (26 points) in their remaining two games, look likely to end where they are on the log.
The worst that can happen to Paul Adams’s men is a one place drop, but they will have to lose to the third-placed Titans (21) when they meet in their final match at Boland Park on Wednesday for that to happen.
That result will also put the Knights (18), who play the Highveld Lions in their final game, out of the competition.
