Knights vow to fight back

Bloemfontein - The Knights will look to bring some of their fighting spirit from the four-day game into the one-day format when they host the Dolphins in the One Day Cup on Friday.

After a heavy defeat to the Cape Cobras in their opening one-day fixture, there could be a concern that the Knights’ limited overs campaign could go the same way as their disastrous one last season.

However, two come-from-behind victories in the Sunfoil Series this term have given captain Werner Coetsee the belief that his side have the guts to turn things around.

“The season so far has shown that we’re up for fighting back,” he said.

“We had some bad sessions in the four-day stuff where we got behind in the game, but we were able to take victories from both games.”

Pite van Biljon has recovered from injury and will take the place of Rilee Rossouw, who has left for duty with the Proteas, and there are two other changes to the Knights squad.

Gihahn Cloete and Tumi Masekela have dropped out of the 12, while Tumelo Bodibe, Shadley van Schalkwyk and Diego Rosier have all been included.

The Dolphins have retained the same 13-man squad from Wednesday’s washout against the Lions, but may freshen up their side in the middle of a busy week.

Otherwise coach Lance Klusener has been happy with the way his charges have gone about their business early on in the campaign.

“We’ve been good, but we just need to nail down our skills a bit better and be a bit more precise - especially with the ball,” he said.
