Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa's acting president AK Khan confirmed on Monday they had submitted their response to their ex-president Mtutuzeli Nyoka's legal team after being given a March 8 deadline to explain why they ousted him.
"We have submitted our response to the relevant people and now it's all in the hands of the legal teams," said Khan.
Nyoka was sacked by the board in February following a controversy around bonuses paid to CSA's chief executive Gerald Majola and other CSA employees after the hosting of the 2009 Indian Premier League and Champions Trophy.
The IPL was switched from India to South Africa at the eleventh hour for security reasons. After it came to light that the bonuses were paid in a manner which did not follow CSA guidelines, Nyoka requested an external investigation.
Instead, CSA opted for an internal review, headed by Khan, in November last year which subsequently cleared Majola and the other beneficiaries of any wrongdoing.
For reasons not made public, the voting members of CSA's board tabled a motion of no-confidence in Nyoka. The overwhelmingly majority voted him out at a special meeting on February 12.
Nyoka decided to take the matter further and his legal adviser, Bernard Matheson, put the onus on CSA to explain why Nyoka should not be reinstated as its president.
Scheduled for argument on Tuesday in the High Court in Johannesburg, Khan said he thought the matter was going ahead, but was not directly involved anymore.
"I'm sure it's going ahead, but it's pointless for me to comment further because it's all in the hands of our lawyers."
