New sponsor for Dolphins

Durban - Sunfoil Pure Sunflower Oil, the leading cooking oil brand manufactured by the Pietermaritzburg-based Willowton Group, has formed a partnership with KZN’'s provincial cricket team the Dolphins.

The deal has resulted in the Dolphins now officially being known as the Sunfoil Dolphins, with Sunfoil replacing Nashua as the team's sponsor.

"A key element of this partnership is the strategic fit. Both the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union (KZNCU) and the Willowton Group share the vision of making the Sunfoil Dolphins the most recognisable cricket brand in the country, in time rivalling the Sharks, the Bulls, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates as the premier sporting brands in the country," explained Jesse Chellan, CEO of the KZNCU.

The Willowton Group is a family-owned business (the Moosa family) that was established 41 years ago.

"The Moosa family are ardent and passionate supporters of Dolphins cricket, so they are cricketing people who understand and support the game," said Chellan.

The Group boasts manufacturing facilities in Pietermaritzburg, Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Chellan said the process to find a replacement for Nashua as team sponsor for the Dolphins commenced about ten months ago.

"Ideally, we were looking for a KZN- based multinational and approached, approximately 10 companies. After several months of negotiations, the shortlist was down to three companies, with Willowton Group being selected as the final preferred partner," he said.

"The synergy between these two great brands couldn't be closer and the added value this partnership brings to the loyal customers who support them is something we are extremely excited about," commented Shoaib Moosa, sales and marketing director of the WR.
