New CSA post for Van Zyl

Cape Town - Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Tuesday announced the appointment of Corrie van Zyl as the new general manager.

“Corrie has a distinguished record as player, coach and administrator and he will do an excellent job in taking the game forward as we pursue our vision of making cricket accessible to all and making South Africa a nation of winners,” commented CSA CEO Gerald Majola.

“He will take charge of the entire development pipeline from grassroots right up to the Proteas and both he and national head coach Gary Kirsten will report directly to me in terms of our cricket structures.

“Vinnie Barnes will take charge as head coach of the High Performance Centre and the youth cricket manager Niels Momberg, senior cricket manager Max Jordaan and coaching education manager Anton Ferreira will report directly to Corrie.”

Van Zyl said he was delighted to take up his new post. “When I decided to stand down as national cricket coach I felt I could still make a contribution to the well-being of South African cricket over a period of time and I am very excited about this new challenge.

“Our cricket is flourishing at all levels at the moment and I believe we are entering an exciting period in our young history.”
