Colombo - Spinner Ajantha Mendis and seamer Nuwan Kulasekara were omitted from Sri Lanka's 15-man squad for the five-match one-day international series against Pakistan this month.
The selectors picked uncapped allrounder Kosala Kulasekara for the matches starting in the United Arab Emirates on November 11.
Mendis has not played for Sri Lanka since withdrawing halfway through a home Test series against Australia in September citing an injury, and Nuwan Kulasekara last featured in ODIs against Australia.
Kosala, not a relative of Nuwan, has played in 74 first-class limited-over matches scoring 1 325 runs and taking 65 wickets with his medium pace.
Dilhara Fernando, who withdrew from a tour to England in June due to an injury, returns.
