Malinga upset at 'fake' report

Colombo - Sri Lanka paceman Lasith Malinga says he is upset by reports suggesting he faked injury in order to avoid playing for his country and continue playing in the lucrative IPL.

Speaking at a news conference to confirm his retirement from Test cricket, the 27-year-old Malinga said on Tuesday he has "always been totally committed to playing for Sri Lanka."

Malinga made himself unavailable for Sri Lanka's three Tests against England this year, citing a knee injury. Sri Lanka Cricket wanted him to begin a rehabilitation programme immediately, but Malinga continued to play in the IPL.

The fast bowler subsequently announced retired from Test cricket, but will still be available for limited-overs internationals.
