Cape Town – Veteran Proteas paceman Makhaya Ntini, with a 10-wicket match haul, was the architect of a two-day County Championship demolition job by Kent on title-holders Durham.
The supposedly four-day encounter ended on Tuesday with Kent triumphing by an innings and four runs, Ntini grabbing six wickets in the home side’s second innings at Chester-le-Street.
The popular Warriors player, who turns 33 in early July, boasted figures of 17.3-3-51-6 as Durham followed up their meek first knock of 121 with a barely improved 195 the second time around.
Their shell-shocked line-up included international players in Ntini’s compatriot Dale Benkenstein, England bowlers Liam Plunkett and Steve Harmison and former Australian one-day international batsman Michael Di Venuto.
Rampant Ntini had earned first-innings figures of four for 53, giving him a match analysis of 10 for 104.
It is the fifth time in first-class cricket that Ntini has achieved this feat.
