Majola hearing kept in-house

"It is an internal matter," spokesperson Altaaf Kazi said.

A statement on the proceedings would be issued, according to Kazi, if deemed necessary.

The hearing, chaired by advocate Karel Tip, was initially expected to start in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

However, Majola's lawyer Pumezo David said on Tuesday that the hearing could be delayed as preliminary proceedings had not yet been completed.

Majola was suspended in March after a long-running bonus scandal following the 2009 Indian Premier League T20 tournament which South Africa hosted.

The Nicholson inquiry, instituted after Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula called for an independent probe, found that R4.7 million in bonuses had been paid to CSA staff without clearance from the board or the remuneration committee.
