Magical Morkel rescues Titans

Pretoria - The Nashua Titans took control of Pool A when they beat the Chevrolet Warriors by 25 runs under the Duckworth/Lewis method at SuperSport Park.

Albie Morkel had an excellent all-round match for the winners (45 runs off 61 balls with surprisingly only 1 four and 1 six, and 4/25).

The Titans recovered from being 53/5 in the 12th over to post 214 thanks in the main to Morkel and Henry Davids (51 off 72 balls with 4 fours) who added 83 for the 6th wicket in 17 overs.

The Warriors were not helped by the run out of two key batsmen, Colin Ingram and Craig Thyssen, which left stand-in captain Justin Kreusch (68 off 62 balls with 6 fours and a six) to fight much of a lone hand.

The Warriors finished on 178/9 before rain washed out the last 21 balls. Under MTN40 regulations no extra time is allowed for weather delays.

This victory puts the Titans clear in Pool A but the Warriors still have an outside chance of catching the Chevrolet Knights but they will have to start winning with bonus points.

There is a key match next Sunday at the Diamond Oval when the Titans take on the Knights in a match that is likely to decide top place.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
