Cape Town - JP Duminy will replace the injured Herschelle Gibbs for the Cape Cobras in their two 1 Day Cup matches over the weekend.

The Volksblad newspaper reports that Gibbs has a wound with six stitches to his hand. He sustained the injury when he dropped a catch during his side's 72-run victory over the Highveld Lions on Sunday.

The Proteas have released Duminy from their Test squad to play for his franchise against the Warriors in Port Elizabeth on Friday, as well as their clash against the Titans in Benoni on Sunday.

The Cobras and the Warriors currently occupy the first two spots on the log, which sets up a mouth-watering clash at St George's Park.

In other matches on Friday, the Knights tackle the Highveld Lions in Kimberley, while the Titans and the Dolphins square up in Centurion.

The Knights and the Warriors also meet in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

The Dolphins will be hoping for good weather as all three their encounters thus far yielded no results due to inclement weather.
