Cape Town - The Cape Cobras have on Thursday named a star-studded 16-man squad for their two upcoming 1 Day Cup matches over the weekend.

The Cobras start their campaign against the Dolphins in Durban on Friday before heading to Johannesburg to take on the Highveld Lions on Sunday.

Graeme Smith, Dale Steyn, Mark Boucher and Robin Peterson - who all played in the recent T20 and ODI series' against Australia - have been allowed to play, while Jacques Kallis and JP Duminy were not released to play.

Boucher is expected to make his debut for the Capetonians. He was previously contracted with the franchise during the 2007/08 season but never played a match.

10 of the 16 squad members have represented the Proteas in some format of the game before, while Owais Shah is a former England international. Richard Levi was picked in the Proteas' squad for the recent T20 series against the Aussies but didn't play.

The squad will remain the same for Sunday's match against the Lions at the Wanderers.

Coach Richard Pybus's charges are eager to do well in this format of the game. They have won the domestic the Pro20 in two of the last three seasons and are the two-time defending four-day SuperSport Series champions. But they have struggled in the one-day format over the last few seasons, with their last triumph coming in the 2006/07 season.

Cape Cobras squad: Andrew Puttick, Dale Steyn, Dane Vilas, Dane Piedt, Francois Plaatjies, Graeme Smith, Herschelle Gibbs, Johann Louw, Justin Kemp, Justin Ontong, Mark Boucher, Mohammed Vallie, Owais Shah, Robin Peterson, Richard Levi, Rory Kleinveldt.
