Classy Knights down Warriors

Bloemfontein - Rilee Rossouw recorded his second century of the MTN40 season as the Knights defeated the Warriors by seven wickets in their clash at the OUTsurance Oval in Bloemfontein on Friday.

Rossouw was the only centurion of the match and helped the Knights to a comfortable victory chasing a target of 230 for victory.

The 21-year -old Rossouw was named man of the match for his unbeaten 102 runs from only 96 deliveries.

Rossouw and Reeza Hendricks (89) shared a record second wicket partnership for the Knights. They scored 182 runs from 155 deliveries before Hendricks was caught by wicketkeeper Davy Jacobs off the bowling of Rusty Theron (1/35).

Rossouw struck eight fours and a six in his innings.

The home side lost their captain, Morn van Wyk (11) early in their innings. He was caught by Colin Ingram off the bowling of Makhaya Ntini with the score on 43.

Ryan Bailey (18) was dismissed when he was caught by Kelly Smuts off the bowling of Basheer Walters (1/52). The visitors scored 229/8 in their 40 overs mainly due to a partnership of 129 between Ingram (92) and Justin Kreusch (55) for the fourth wicket.

Kreusch was bowled by a delivery from Dillon du Preez (2/44).Du Preez also bowled Arno Jacobs’ (8).

Ingram fell short of his century when Rossouw took a good catch off the bowling of Shadley van Schalkwyk (2/16). Van Schalkwyk also removed Craig Thyssen (29) from the crease with Johan van der Wath assisting.

Jandre Coetzee (2/29) was the pick of the home side’s bowlers. He got rid of Nicky Boje (1) and Kelly Smuts (4) within three deliveries. Boje was caught by Rossouw while Smuts was caught behind the stumps by captain van Wyk.

It was the Warriors' second defeat of their campaign as defending champions.
