London - Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), owner of Lord’s cricket ground, has officially appointed Mike Gatting as president.
According to the SportBusiness website, former England and Middlesex team captain Gatting begins his one-year presidency on Tuesday, following reports earlier in the year that he would take over the role from former Sussex captain Mike Griffith.
The 56-year-old told Lords TV: "It is an amazing honour to have been asked to serve as president at the best cricket club in the world. Lord’s is such a special place and we must make sure it continues to be the finest ground in the world.”
