Kiwis send Sri Lanka to bat

Hambantota - New Zealand captain Ross Taylor elected to field after winning the toss against Sri Lanka in the fifth and final one-day international in Hambantota on Monday.

Sri Lanka, who have already gained an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series, brought in paceman Shaminda Eranga and debutant spinner Akila Dananjaya in place of Nuwan Kulasekara and Rangana Herath. New Zealand retained the side.

The opening one-dayer was called off without a ball being bowled due to rain.


Sri Lanka: Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Upul Tharanga, Kumar Sangakkara, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Lahiru Thirimanne, Thisara Perera, Jeevan Mendis, Shaminda Eranga, Lasith Malinga, Akila Dananjaya.

New Zealand: Ross Taylor (capt), Rob Nicol, Bradley-John Watling, Brendon McCullum, Kane Williamson, James Franklin, Nathan McCullum, Andrew Ellis, Adam Milne, Tim Southee, Trent Boult.

Umpires: Ian Gould (ENG) and Tyron Wijewardene (SRI)

TV umpire: Ruchira Palliyaguruge (SRI)
