Kallis to lead Proteas in ODIs

Kolkata - Jacques Kallis will captain South Africa in their three one-day internationals against India after Graeme Smith was ruled out with a finger injury.

The Proteas confirmed on Thursday that the all-rounder would stand in for Smith who will return home following South Africa's innings defeat in the second Test, which squared the two-match series.

Kallis last captained his country in 2006, when he again deputized for the injured Smith.

The in-form Hashim Amla, who was named man of the Test series after a double century and two hundreds in three innings, will stay on as a batting replacement for Smith in the tourists' ODI squad.

The one-dayers are scheduled for Jaipur on Sunday, Gwalior on Wednesday and Ahmedabad next Saturday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
