Sydney - South Africa's Jacques Kallis on Sunday produced a T20 masterclass playing for the Sydney Thunder in Australia's Big Bash League.

The 39-year-old Kallis scored 97 not out off just 55 balls as Sydney Thunder posted 208/1 in 20 overs against the Brisbane Heat.

It was Kallis's highest ever score in T20 cricket and he shared in a 160-run partnership for the first wicket with Mike Hussey, who himself scored 96 off 60 balls.

Kallis and Hussey, who are both retired from international cricket, lifted the Thunder well past their previous highest score of 166. Kallis's 97 surpassed the 89 not out he made for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2010.

Kallis also bowled Heat opener Dan Christian with only his second delivery as the men from Brisbane were dismissed for 152, handing the Thunder a 56-run victory.

The win was Sydney's Thunder's second in 22 matches following a 19-match losing streak that ended last season.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
