Cape Town - The Proteas' spokesperson has denied that alcohol was to blame for Jacques Kallis's car crash in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Kallis escaped unhurt after crashing his white Audi R8 through a house's gate off Herschel Walk in Wynberg, Cape Town at 02:00.
Kallis, who scored his first Test double century in the Proteas first Test victory over India that finished on Monday, will not miss any Proteas practice or matches as a result of the accident in Cape Town, confirmed Proteas spokesperson Michael Owen-Smith.
"Alcohol was not an issue in (the crash).
"The (local) police didn't feel there was a need for any breathalyser or any kind of blood test and so that's the end of the matter," said Owen-Smith.
Owen-Smith said the accident happened around 12:30, but according to the official police report received by Sport24 on Tuesday, the accident took place at 02:00.
“Kallis was unable to drive his own car home because the front tyres were flat. His girlfriend, Shamone Jardim, arrived to fetch him and the car was towed away.
"There is a dent on the front of the car but besides that, it's fine," Proteas team manager Mohammed Moosajee told the Cricinfo website.
"The insurance will sort all the details out.
"It was a freak, minor accident and there was nothing untoward about the manner in which it happened," Moosajee added.
Kallis may be liable for any damage done to the gate of the house. Reports suggest the damage to the car itself could amount to as much as R200 000.
The South Africa squad departed from Johannesburg on Monday night to be with their families over the festive season and will reconvene in Durban on Thursday for the second Test which starts on Boxing Day.
