London - Kevin Pietersen hit a century for Surrey on Saturday just hours after the axed England star discovered he will face a disciplinary hearing over his Twitter rant.
Pietersen launched a foul-mouthed tirade on the micro-blogging site after being dropped from the England squad for the one-day internationals against Pakistan earlier this week.
England coach Andy Flower made it clear on Saturday that Pietersen's actions will result in an official hearing, but the South Africa-born batsman didn't appear unduly affected as he scored 116 from 105 balls in a 40-over match at Hove.
The 30-year-old moved to Surrey on loan because he has fallen out with his current club Hampshire after announcing he will leave at the end of the season.
He took the opportunity to underline his ability with a flamboyant display of power-hitting against Sussex, which included eight fours and six sixes, before being bowled by James Kirtley.
