KP 'gutted' over Rice's death

Cape Town - Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has expressed his sadness after learning of former South African captain Clive Rice's death on Tuesday.

Rice, who played county cricket at Nottinghamshire, played a pivotal role in Kevin Pietersen's decision to join his former county.

Pietersen left South Africa at 19 to further his career in England and went on to play 104 Test matches for his adopted country.

The Pietermaritzburg-born batsman said that he was "absolutely gutted" to discover that Rice had passed away after suffering with a brain tumour in recent times.
