Centurion - Former captain of the Titans, Pierre Joubert, has been rewarded with a Benefit year at Easterns Titans in the 2010/11 season. Joubert has planned several events to celebrate his career.
Educated at Eldoraigne High School, Pierre represented the Northerns Province in the Under-13, Under-15 and Under-19 age group teams between 1991 and 1997. Pierre was selected for the SA Schools XI in 1995 and 1996.
He made his first class debut for Northerns in the 1995/96 season and led the Northerns amateur side successfully in particular during the 2005/06 season when the Amateur side won the double.
This also led to him being awarded the SAA Provincial Amateur Cricketer of the Year at the CSA Annual Awards and he was chosen as the Northerns Provincial Amateur Player of the year in the same season.
Joubert was called up to the Titans squad and made his debut against the Cape Cobras in 2006. He responded to the coach’s call and developed into a key player under Richard Pybus with the team clinching the double twice during his captaincy. He won the Titans Player of the Year in the 2008/09 season. He stood down as captain at the end of the 2009/10.
"Pierre is a worthy recipient of a benefit year as he has been a loyal servant of the game, Northerns and Titans for many years," said Titans chief executive Elise Lombard.
"He captained the Provincial and the Titans teams with aplomb, moreover, he is a true gentleman."
"I feel very privileged and humbled to be rewarded with this Benefit Year; it is also a big honour for me to have been associated with such a successful union and franchise for so many years," said 32-year-old Joubert.
