Imran gets good work-out

Cape Town - Imran Tahir got just the work-out he needed ahead of the Proteas’ Castle Lager Test squad’s tour of England as South Africa A cruised to victory by an innings and 8 runs against their Sri Lankan counterparts at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead on Monday.

Imran took 3/82 in 22.4 overs to back up Ryan McLaren who finished with figures of 5/60 in 17 overs. It was the 12th time that McLaren had taken five wickets in an innings.

Thami Tsolekile also had a fine match behind the stumps, finishing with seven catches, three of which were off the bowling of McLaren.

South Africa declared at their overnight total of 425/6 for an overall lead of 255 runs and then dismissed Sri Lanka for 247 in 62.4 overs.

Roshen Silva (50 off 80 balls, 9 fours) made top score in the second innings for the visitors.
