Wayne Parnell out on bail

Cape Town - South African cricketer Wayne Parnell, who faces drug charges over a late-night party in 2012 following an Indian Premier League (IPL) game, will meet his investigating officer this week, according to a report on Tuesday.

Donne Commins, Parnell's agent, confirmed Parnell had surrendered to a Mumbai court upon his arrival in India.

"The court has ruled that he may travel freely, and has also ordered that his passport be returned to him," Commins said.

"He will meet with the investigating officer on Wednesday so that charges against him can be formalised, but he denies any wrongdoing."

He was granted bail on Monday by a Mumbai court on a bond of 10 000 rupees (R1 672).

Parnell and Indian cricketer Rahul Sharma were among nearly 100 people detained for medical testing at an upmarket hotel in Mumbai last May which was raided by police who found drugs on the premises.

The SA cricket player subsequently left India after the medical examination.

Left-arm paceman Parnell, 23, has played three Tests, 27 one-dayers and 17 T20 games for the Proteas.

He has yet to play in the IPL this year.
