Six more SA stars off to IPL

Cape Town - Six South African cricketers who were involved in the T20 Challenge final on Sunday will join the IPL in India this week.

According to the Volksblad website, young Highveld Lions wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock will join new franchise, the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The 20-year-old left-hander produced a terrific, game-tilting exhibition of crisp and clean hitting on a fairly tired, challenging late-summer track at the Wanderers on Sunday to help his Lions franchise to the T20 Challenge title at the expense of neighbours the Titans in the final.

De Kock was top-scorer across either side with 44 off only 31 deliveries. a glowing 524 runs (apparently the new SA domestic record) at an average of 52.40, with a strike rate of 145.55.

Another Lions player, Chris Morris (Chennai Super Kings), is, like De Kock, also involved in the IPL for the first time.

Four Titans players - Albie Morkel (Chennai Super Kings), AB de Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Morné Morkel and Roelof van der Merwe (both Delhi Daredevils) - are also on their way to India.

Delhi Daredevils: Morné Morkel, Roelof van der Merwe, Gulam Bodi, Johan Botha

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Dale Steyn, Quinton de Kock, Rusty Theron, JP Duminy (injured)

Kings XI Punjab: David Miller
