New Delhi - England batsman Kevin Pietersen smashed a quick 43 not out to guide Delhi to an eight-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings at the Ferozeshah Kotla here on Tuesday.

Chennai were restricted to 110-8, while Delhi scored 111-2 in only 13.2 overs.

The two-time defending champions Chennai suffered four run outs including that of opener Murali Vijay off the very first ball, and were never really in the game.

Delhi captain Virender Sehwag's quick 33 off 21 balls set the tone and then Pietersen and Mahela Jayawardene (20 not out), both of whom joined Delhi after featuring in a Test series in Sri Lanka, saw the team through with a 61-run unbroken stand.

Delhi have two wins and a loss after this result, while Chennai have one win and two losses.

Delhi 111-2 in 13.2 overs (Kevin Pietersen 43 not out, Virender Sehwag 33, Mahela Jayawardene 20 not out) def. Chennai Super Kings 110-8 (Dwayne Bravo 22; Morne Morkel 2-19).
