Cape Town - Former England captain Michael Vaughan says South Africa's AB de Villiers is without doubt the best batsman in world cricket.
De Villiers smacked Vaughan's old side to all corners of the field in their ICC World Twenty20 clash in Chittagong last weekend, helping the Proteas win by three runs to qualify for a semi-finals against India on Friday.
De Villiers scored 69 not out off just 28 balls as South Africa amassed 193/7 in 20 overs.
Vaughan was astounded by De Villiers's performance, and had the following to say on Twitter:
"You have just witnessed a genius in action... @ABdeVilliers17 is a freak.. Some of those shots were outrageous.. Best in the world.. #fact."
De Villiers is currently ranked at No 1 on the ICC official Test rankings for batsmen, second in ODIs behind India's Virat Kohli but only 37th on the T20 rankings.
South Africa's semi-final against India in Dhaka starts at 15:00 on Friday.
