Fatullah - The Proteas have romped to an eight wicket victory against Pakistan in their second World Twenty20 warm-up match in Fatullah on Wednesday.
This, after Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez won the toss and elected to bat first.
However, the decision seemed to have backfired as the Proteas proceeded to bowl them out for 71 inside 18 overs.
Only three Pakistan batsmen managed double figures, with Umar Akmal the top scorer with 17 runs.
The Proteas made light work of the total, reaching the 72 runs required for victory with six overs to spare, whilst only losing openers Quinton de Kock (15) and Hashim Amla, who top scored with 24 runs.
David Miller was promoted to No. 3 in the batting line-up, scoring 12 runs off 23 balls to see the Proteas home along with stand-in captain AB de Villiers, who chipped in with 20 runs.
Although both teams were allowed to make use of their full compliment of 15 players (11 batting, 11 fielding), the Proteas could only field 13 players, with Faf du Plessis and Dale Steyn sitting out due to injury.
Steyn has been assessed as having mildly aggravated his previous hamstring strain sustained during the Test match against Australia two weeks ago. He will continue to receive treatment from the physiotherapist to give him the best chance of recovery for the opening match.
Du Plessis remains a 50-50 chance for the opening match following his hamstring strain.
The medical team is cautious of rushing him too soon because of the explosive nature of T20 cricket and the back-to-back schedule of fixtures.
He will continue to receive extensive treatment and rehab to give him the best chance of regaining full fitness for the opening match.
A call on Steyn and Du Plessis's availability for the opening match will only be made on Saturday afternoon before the match.
