Ford quits as Dolphins coach

Durban - Dolphins coach Graham Ford has resigned from his position on Tuesday with immediate effect.

Ford had been reappointed as Dolphins coach in June last year but he asked the Dolphins to be released from his contract and the union accepted his resignation.

“Whilst I feel a passion for Dolphins cricket, I respectfully ask for an immediate release from my Dolphins coaching position, in order to follow my dreams of involvement at an international level,” Ford said in a statement.

Ford’s first stint as Dolphins coach was in 1992 and in the 1996-97 season he led his team to victory in the domestic first-class and one-day competitions.

In 1999, Ford was appointed as South Africa coach and he led the Proteas to eight series wins out of 11 played before being fired in 2001.

Ford was again appointed as Dolphins coach in 2006 but he asked to be released from his contract for personal reasons before taking up the reigns for a third time last year.

“We wish him well in his future endeavours and thank him for his contribution towards the development and rebuilding of cricket in KwaZulu-Natal and the Sunfoil Dolphins team,” the union said.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
