Youngsters to take on England

Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Tuesday the SA Invitational squad, which will play against England in two warm-up matches at Buffalo Park from December 9-12.

The 14-member squad will have the opportunity to show their mettle against England in two consecutive two-day matches, which will give the tourists match practice ahead of the first Test match in Centurion starting on December 18.

CSA Senior Amateur Cricket Manager, Max Jordaan said: "Cricket South Africa once again presents an ideal opportunity to aspiring young talented players to experience some of the intensity of cricket at the highest level.

"The chance to play against England on the crest of their cricket after their recent success in the Ashes series, should be a dream occasion for any young player. Chances are that some of them could impress favourably on this occasion."

Wendell Bossenger, who was recently crowned as one of the five cricketers of the year, will lead a relatively young team, which has seven U19 capped players, with six having represented their country in the past two years.

The squad also features five graduates from the 2009 Standard Bank National Cricket Academy, Bossenger, Blake Snijman, David Wiese and Divan van Wyk will bring experience to the side, which will be coached by Shaheed Alexander.
