Port Elizabeth - South Africa have suffered a major blow in their effort to take a two-one lead in the MTN one-day international series against England by winning the fourth match at St George's Park on Sunday with the news that their premier strike bowler Dale Steyn will probably miss the match.
Media manager Michael Owen-Smith said on Saturday Steyn has a slight hamstring strain and is unlikely to play.
The two sides go into the match on level terms, with one comprehensive win each. The first match was washed out.
Proteas captain Graeme Smith said South Africa could build on their 112-run win at Newlands on Friday night and make life difficult for the visitors.
"I believe that the win on Friday will become a statement of our intent for the whole summer if we can come out on Sunday and play to our potential as a team," said Smith. "Our challenge as a team is to create this consistency and get into our season.
"If we can continue to play at this level, we can make things tough for England," he added.
"Sunday's match should be very exciting. Port Elizabeth is always a vibrant place to play."
Strauss said he thought the teams were very evenly matched.
"In both matches, there have been times when the game has been a little bit in the balance, and then one side has taken control. Recognising those critical periods is crucial to success in one-day cricket."
He said England had a very good record of bouncing back after a defeat.
"But South Africa have proved that they can do that too. Momentum is not something we worry too much about - we just have to make sure that we play better on Sunday.
"I still believe we have 11 very positive cricketers who are happy with their game and believe we can win on Sunday."
No rain has been forecast for Sunday and the weather is expected to be partly cloudy and warm.
