Johannesburg - South Africa's selection panel on Friday recalled Wayne Parnell for Thursday's final Castle Test match against England at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium.
Parnell is a regular member of the Standard Bank ODI and Pro20 squads and has been previously included in Test match squads, the most recent occasion being the first Castle Test of the current series. He is yet to be capped in this format of the game.
The selectors had opted for a 15-man squad that consists of the 11 players who did duty at Sahara Park Newlands in the third Castle Test plus Parnell, Alviro Petersen and Ryan McLaren and Easterns leg spinner Imran Tahir, but Tahir has been withdrawn from the squad due to questions surrounding his eligibility for the SA national squad.
Friedel de Wet's inclusion will depend on the outcome of a scan on his back.
"This is a must win Test for us," commented selection convener Mike Procter, "and we have covered all our bases as far as the composition of our attack is concerned."
Proteas' Castle Test squad: Graeme Smith (Nashua Cape Cobras, capt), Hashim Amla (Nashua Dolphins), Mark Boucher (Chevrolet Warriors), AB de Villiers (Nashua Titans), Friedel de Wet (bizhub Highveld Lions), JP Duminy (Nashua Cape Cobras), Paul Harris (Nashua Titans), Jacques Kallis (Chevrolet Warriors), Ryan McLaren (Chevrolet Diamond Eagles), Morne Morkel (Nashua Titans), Wayne Parnell (Chevrolet Warriors), Alviro Petersen (bizhub Highveld Lions), Ashwell Prince (Chevrolet Warriors), Dale Steyn (Nashua Titans).
