Morkel added to Proteas squad

Johannesburg - Morne Morkel has been added to the Proteas' Standard Bank ODI squad for the remainder of the MTN cricket series against England.

"Morne will join up with the squad in Cape Town on Wednesday," commented selection chief Mike Procter.

"He has shown good form in domestic cricket this season and was also impressive in the 50 overs match for South Africa A against England a week ago.

"He will definitely form part of our plans for the Castle Test series as well so the sooner we have him involved with the team the better," he added.

Morkel played in seven of the Proteas' 10 ODIs against Australia last season and was also part of the squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in England earlier this year.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
