England add Davies to squad

East London - England have called up uncapped Durham seamer Mark Davies to their Test squad in South Africa as cover for James Anderson and Ryan Sidebottom, team management announced on Saturday.

Paceman Anderson is struggling with a knee injury while Sidebottom has a side strain.

"It had been hoped Anderson's knee complaint was behind him but he has continued to experience soreness from a mystery injury that has not been diagnosed despite scans," the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement on their website.

England are due to meet South Africa in Centurion on December 16 in the first match of a four-Test series.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
