Cricketers excited about draw

Durban - The captains of the South African and England cricket teams both expressed excitement on Thursday about the draw for the Fifa World Cup in Cape Town on Friday.

South African captain Graeme Smith said all the Proteas were enormously proud that the World Cup was to take place in South Africa.

"We all respect the enormity of 2010," he said on the eve of the final MTN one-day international against England at Kingsmead on Friday.

"As public figures and role models in the country, we see it as another massive event to really showcase our country. We support the Springboks, Bafana and 2010 - anything that makes South Africa proud.

"I hope tomorrow's a successful event. Hopefully, we can get a game on here and it will be a doubly successful day for South Africa."

"Since we've been in South Africa, it's been abundantly clear how close the World Cup is," said England captain Andrew Strauss.

"All the work that's going on to prepare the country for it. It kind of whets the appetite to think that it's something like 120 days before it starts.

"It's going to be a special event - let's hope England get a good group."
