Elgar closes on double ton

Pietermaritzburg - Dean Elgar moved in sight of a double century as South Africa A continued their first innings into the third day of their second four-day match against Bangladesh A at the Maritzburg Oval on Friday.

Wednesday’s cloud burst meant that there was no play on Thursday and only a limited amount of play on Friday. A total of only 86 overs has been possible condemning this match to an almost certain draw with South Africa A finishing the day on 320/3.

Elgar is unbeaten on 169 (252 balls, 20 fours and 2 sixes) with the only wicket to fall on day three being that of Farhaan Behardien (91 off 135 balls with 9 fours). The pair put on 168 for the third wicket in 42.4 overs.

Elgar and Stiaan van Zyl added a further 66 in 18.3 overs for the unbroken fourth wicket.
