St Lucia - A late flourish from Paul Collingwood and Matt Prior helped England reach 172 for five off a maximum 29 overs in the rain-hit fifth and final one-day international against West Indies on Friday.
Collingwood made 35 not out from 31 balls and Prior scored 25 not out from 25 balls to pull England out of a wobble with an unbroken stand of 60 from 49 balls for the sixth wicket.
England stumbled to 112 for five in the 21st over, following an 80-run stand between Kevin Pietersen and Ravi Bopara.
Pietersen hit the top score of a run-a-ball 48 and opener Bopara gathered 44 from 49 balls before they were two of four wickets that fell in the space of 33 balls.
England had suffered an early stumble when captain Andrew Strauss miscued a hook at a rising ball from Ravi Rampaul and was caught at mid-wicket for three in the second over.
But Pietersen and Bopara got England moving before Pietersen cut Sulieman Benn low to square cover in the 16th over to trigger a collapse. Darren Sammy took the catch although replays suggested the ball had not been taken cleanly.
Bopara then skied a miscued pull to the keeper off Kieron Pollard in the 19th over, Owais Shah swung Benn to deep mid-wicket in the 20th, and Andrew Flintoff turned Pollard to mid-wicket off the leading edge in the 21st over.
Benn captured two for 23 from six overs and Pollard took two for 31 from five overs.
England are playing an unchanged line-up, but West Indies, who backtracked on a threat to strike in protest of a contract and pay dispute with their board, made two changes to their final 11.
They brought Benn in to replace injured fellow left-arm spinner Nikita Miller, and Rampaul for fellow fast bowler Lionel Baker.
The match started four hours later than scheduled following overnight and early morning rain, and each side is restricted to a maximum of 29 overs.
The series is level 2-2.
A win for England would be historic, as it would hand them their first-ever ODI series victory in the Caribbean.
