Colombo - Tillakaratne Dilshan has been named Sri Lanka captain as selectors choose to rest senior players for next week's limited-overs tri-series series in Zimbabwe.
Regular captain Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan and Lasith Malinga all will miss the tri-series, which also features India.
Allrounder Jeevan Mendis gets his first chance in the national team, despite featuring in domestic cricket for a nearly a decade. Left-handed batsman Lahiru Thirimanne, who played two one-day internationals against Bangladesh earlier this year, is also recalled.
Opening batsman Upul Tharanga, middle-order batsman Chamara Silva and fast bowler Dilhara Fernando, who all were ignored for the Twenty20 World Cup also return to the ODI squad.
The tri-series begins in Bulawayo on May 28.
