Bangladesh - Back spasms have ruled India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni out of the first Test against Bangladesh starting in Chittagong on Sunday, the Indian team manager said.

Virender Sehwag will lead India in Dhoni's place while Dinesh Karthik will keep wickets, team manager Arshad Ayub told AFP.

Dhoni, who skipped the team's practice session on Saturday morning, is likely to play in the second and final Test starting in Dhaka on January 24.

"Dhoni did not want to take any chances and decided at the team meeting in the evening that he wouldn't play the Test. As of now he has only been ruled out of the first Test," Ayub said.
