LOSING SKIPPER QUOTES

"Difficult evening," says William Porterfield.

"They played well. We had an early breakthrough, we wanted more, but once the lads got in they were difficult to get out. You have got to take your chances. It was a very good pitch. The lads tried to squeeze as much as possible. Four down coming out to 10 overs, they bowled very well. All credit to the lower order. Every game is a big game. The one against Zimbabwe is a big one."

AB'S QUOTES

"There's been a lot of 100s in the last 12 to 18 months and we're very proud of that."

On Amla: "He is incredible, he's our rock."

AMLA QUOTES

"Myself and Faf got going, and then I started to play some shots. We had wickets in hand so we could have a go. Thankfully it came off. It was a good wicket and fortunately we got some runs. Always good to post a win. Any hundred is a hundred. Glad to get some runs. Doesn't matter how long it takes. We bowled exceptionally well. Glad that edge stuck under the armpit."

MATCH SUMMARY

Comprehensive win by the Proteas

Ireland represented a potential* banana-skin for the Proteas, especially after their win over the West Indies, but proved no match for a rampant SA side

Led by tons by Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis, the Proteas were always in charge of the match after posting 411/4 - the second highest ever Cricket World Cup total.

The Proteas move to 6 points - level with pool-toppers India who enjoy a superior run rate.

Ireland aren't out of quarter-final contention yet, but will need to up their game considerably in their remaining fixtures

Why would we be talking about AB instead of talking about Abbott's good day, Ivdon't even think AB failed or anything it was just not his day plus the amount of pressure
